Didactic Concerts – Soloist Guitar

  • Title: THE GUITAR THROUGH THE AGES
  • Court of the Catholic Kings (1474-1516)
  • Court of Charles I of Spain and V of Germany (1516-1556)
  • Since Philip II (1556-1598) to the present time

Approach to the Didactic Concert and its Development

It seeks to comment a concert through performed pieces carefully selected and representative of each epoques and styles, traveling and crossing the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary, with the explanations and interpretations of the works showing such enjoyable and educational as has been developed the evolution of the guitar until today, musical aesthetics tastes and meet the objective of own music at each moment, have influenced inseparably in the final outcome of the work, and requiring new forms to the music composers.

Objectives at the end of the recital – Enjoy and Learn Music

ffer to the audience a glimpse of the evolution of one of our national emblems and symbols, the Guitar, now called Classical Guitar or “Spanish Guitar” instrument for which has been composed good deal of music and the most played in the world.

Facilitate the understanding of music to the audience.

Teaching to listen the classical music enjoying with it, not only for the pleasure that it conveys the music itself, but also understanding it better.

Addressing issues such as detailed listener:

  • Polyphony and Imitation voices, in works of Renaissance and Baroque seasons.
  • Themes and Variations of Classical and Romantic works.
  • Compositional resources: the idea and developed themes, Introduction, re-exposure and CODA, and others.
  • The taste for virtuosity. Great works of Romanticism.


Merging with other Arts and the mutual influence.

  • The Poetry of García Lorca: The Golden Polyphemus, twelve-tone masterpiece with sign language timbral resources, atmospheres, suggestions and cell development. Inspired by the Poems:

“Enigma of the Guitar”
At the round
Crossways,
Six maidens
Dance.
Three of flesh
And three of silver.
Yesterday´s dreams haunt them,
But they are held embraced
By a Golden Polyphemus –
The Guitar !

“The Six Strings”
The guitar
Makes dreams weep.
The sob of lost
Souls,
Escape from its round
Mouth.
And like the tarantula,
It weaves a great star
To trap the sighs,
Which float in its black
Wooden cistern.

Put forward the wide possibilities of interpretation of music for classical guitar, such originally composed for it as transcribed and adapted to the guitar.

  • Influence of Jazz, Tango, Minimalism, etc.: Máximo Diego Pujol and the influence of Astor Piazzolla.
    Roberto Fabbri. Influence of Leo Brouwer and others, Music Programmatic. Minimalism.
  • Adaptations of the Popular Music. The Oral Transmission: Sephardic Songs adapted by Oscar Roberto Casares.


They are a priceless musical treasure for the Hebrew people. Enclose behind ornate melody and contagious rhythm, the story of a people who inhabited the old Spain before 1492, when they were expelled the Jews from the Iberian Peninsula and have the merit of having transmitted by word of mouth through generations to the present time.

  • The Influence of Spanish Music: Sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti (1685 – 1757)
  • Polyphony and Counterpoint. J. S. Bach, the synthesis of Baroque time (1680 – 1750): Suite for Lute BWV 995. Adapted for guitar.
  • The Spanish Song. The Couplet of Manuel Quiroga (1889 – 1988): Selection of Couplets. Influence of Andalusian Music and Flamenco. Comments about the Spain around 1889-1988.

Approach to the Didactic Concert and its Development

It seeks to comment a concert through performed pieces carefully selected and representative of each epoques and styles, traveling and crossing the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary, where through the explanations and interpretations of the works will show in an entertaining and didactic musical aesthetic tastes and meet the objective of own music at all times, all inseparably influencing in the final outcome of the work, and requiring to composers new musical forms.

Explanations, also the role of each of the instruments in the performed works, the adaptability of the guitar in the wide variety of styles, sometimes accompanying the violin, others as soloist, or developing a Continuo as accompaniment the violin in Baroque. The timbre and technical resources, the nuances of dynamics and agogics in the Musical Language how express the asemmantic feelings and musical message, etc.. the concept of sound over time.

Objectives at the end of the recital – Enjoy and Learn Music

Offer to the audience a glimpse of the evolution of Chamber Music for Guitar and Violin, with continual references to other arts such as painting and its place in society.

To facilitate the understanding of music to the audience.

Teaching classical music to listen for enjoy it, not only for the pleasure it conveys the music itself, but also for understanding it better.

Approaching issues such as detailed listener:

  • Polyphony and Imitation, and Continuo as accompaniment in Baroque works. JEAN BAPTISTE LOEILLET DE GANT.
  • Themes and Variations in Classical and Romantic works.
  • The Virtuosity. Violin in Great Works of Romanticism. NICCOLO PAGANINI.
  • Compositional resources: the idea and developed themes, with Introduction, re-exposure and CODA.
  • The Society´s Music. Music for Salons. NICCOLO PAGANINI, CHRISTIAN GOTTLIEB SCHNEIDLER, FILIPPO GRAGNANI… FRANCESO MOLINO.


Fusion and influence with other arts.

  • Neoclassicism and Impressionism: Music for the Scene and Film, Spanish Musical influence. JACQUES IBERT. The Theatre, Poetry of Oscar Wilde.


Show the wide possibilities of Chamber Music for Guitar and Violin both as originally composed for Duo as adapted to it.

  • The influence of jazz and tango: JAIME M. ZENAMON and the influence by ASTOR PIAZZOLLA.
  • The oriental exotism. Minimalism: Scheherazade, by HANSJOACHIM KAPS
